Javier is a partner in McKinsey’s Seoul office. He is a seasoned manufacturing practitioner who leads our Manufacturing & Supply Chain Practice in Asia–Pacific.
Javier joined the firm in 1999 and has worked in five European offices (Munich, Cologne, Paris, London, and Madrid) and five Asian offices (Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta).
Javier focuses on serving CEOs and COOs leading advanced industry (e.g., automotive, heavy industry) and consumer (e.g., food and beverages, apparel) corporations on manufacturing topics. He has acquired deep expertise in designing and conducting large manufacturing transformation and restructuring programs, manufacturing diagnostics, operational due diligence (ODD), and footprint network optimization projects focused on cost optimization, direct and indirect staff productivity, digital manufacturing I4.0, resilience, overhead efficiency, asset productivity and reliability, make versus buy, quality improvement, ramp-up management, inventory levels, lean management, energy consumption and customer service.
Some of his recent client work includes:
- led the manufacturing turnaround program for an American automotive supplier for 8 plants in North America
- identified cost savings opportunities in conversion costs for an Asian supplier across 15 plants globally
- conducted an ODD to acquire a European beverage third-party provider
In addition to his client work, Javier teaches manufacturing methods in McKinsey’s Operations Excellence Program.
Prior to joining the firm, Javier worked at Forvia and led production system efficiency implementation as site head of lean manufacturing at a major plant in Germany.
Javier obtained an MBA from IMD (Switzerland), an MSc in mechanical engineering from the ICAI Comillas Pontifical University (Spain), and an MSc in management engineering from the Catholic University of Lille (France).
Javier is fluent in Spanish, French, English, and German.
