Jared leads our work in public transit in North America. He has deep expertise in helping transit agencies and state departments of transportation develop strategies, make key operational decisions, and execute capital plans. He also works up and down the mobility value chain, supporting clients in navigating the energy transition, and advises infrastructure investors on evaluating, sourcing, and structuring opportunities. Passionate about creating better cities, Jared focuses on making the built environment more human centered and resilient to climate change.

  • serving several US transit agencies in forecasting post-COVID demand and adjusting their strategies and operating models to match new expectations for service and customer experience
  • assisting a US transit agency in developing its comprehensive strategic plan by establishing a new vision and mission, setting performance goals and KPIs, addressing immediate reliability concerns, and positioning the agency to respond to future mobility changes
  • supporting the ridership turnaround strategy for a major transit system, including reorganizing transportation entities and developing initiatives to enhance capital productivity, project delivery, and revenue generation to restore fiscal balance
  • helping a transit agency benchmark its capital costs, understand sources of cost premia, and develop a roadmap for addressing them
  • developing a new total cost of ownership approach for a large transit operator to purchase its fleet
  • creating a customer-based growth strategy for a large rail operator
  • creating a market entry strategy for an Energy-as-a-Service start-up focusing on zero-emissions buses
  • preparing the buy-side due diligence of a large private transit operator

Prior to joining McKinsey, Jared worked on long-term land use planning for the city of New York and assisted the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority in the recovery from Hurricane Sandy. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and executive roundtables, sharing his expertise on critical industry challenges and emerging trends in urban mobility.
